Visitor McCutcheon were able to beat the #1 doubles team of Shelby Hopkins and Hannah Hopkins and the #2 doubles team of Kiah Parrott and Daphne Reecer. Both pairs battled and stayed positive throughout their matches.

In singles, we were able to take several games but were not able to take a set from the Mavericks. Abby Bowen and Madison Wood both lost 6-2, 6-2 at #1 and #2, respectively. #3 singles player Olivia Persons dropped her first match as a varsity player 6-1, 6-1.

Apr. 12 Twin Lakes (T) 5:00 pm (L) 3-2
Madison Wood posted her first varsity singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #2.

After dropping the first set at #1 and #3 singles, both Abby Bowen and Olivia Persons won their second, forcing a third and deciding set.

Abby battled but lost 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.

Meanwhile at #3 singles, Olivia forced a third-set tiebreak. It was definitely a gutsy performance by the freshman, who was playing a senior. Olivia won 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). This was her first varsity tennis win!

Apr. 17 Western (H) 4:00 pm (L) 5-0

In doubles play, the #2 dubs pair of Shelby Hopkins and Cloey Baldock fought back after dropping the first set 6-4 to take the second set to a tiebreaker, losing 7-5.

Apr. 18 Frankfort (T) 5:00 pm (L) 4-1
In tennis action, Abby Bowen won her first match
at #1 singles. She won the first set in a decisive
6-2, and then dropped the second set by the same
score. After the 10-minute break, Abby came back with the same fire we had seen in the first set, winning the set 6-2. This was the first of many to come for the sophomore.

Madison Wood started out hot going up 4-1 in the
first set before dropping the set 6- 4 and the second set 3-6. There were many bright spots here on which to build.

Apr. 19 Logansport (T) 5:00 pm (W) 4-1
First off the courts was the # 1 doubles team of Molly Fisher and Hannah Hopkins winning 6-4, 6-3. This was the first varsity win for both ladies.

The next point came from the #2 doubles team of Shelby Hopkins and Cloey Baldock 6-2, 6-3. This was also these ladies first varsity win. Very proud of how these ladies are starting to mesh.

The deciding point came next at #3 singles as Olivia Persons pulled out a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win.

The icing on the cake was Abby Bowen's win at #1 singles 6-4, 6-4.

Apr. 24 Harrison (H) 5:00 pm (L) 5-0
Apr. 26 Northwestern (H) 4:30 pm (L) 5-0
The Lady Kats faced another tough opponent last night in the Northwestern Tigers. The Tigers defeated the Kats 5-0, but the Kats fought point after point.

Abby Bowen took two games off of Madison Layden at #1 singles and the #2 doubles team of Shelby Hopkins and Cloey Baldock also won two games off of Kendall Bostic and Jessie Jones.

The last two matches have been a real test of who we are and how hard we are willing to work. There are good things on the horizon if we can be patient to get there.

Apr. 28 Lafayette Jeff (T) 10:00 am (L) 5-0
May 2 Peru (H) 4:30 pm (L) 4-1
Olivia Persons went three sets to take a point from the visiting Peru Tigers but the Lady Kats fell 4-1.

Playing without our #1 singles player last night led to some shuffling of the lineup and ladies playing in some totally new situations. With NCCs this Saturday and missing some players for the SAT, our doubles teams also were impacted.

Madison Wood stepped into the #1 singles spot and Hannah Hopkins filled in the #2 singles position. Cloey Baldock teamed with Molly Fisher in the #1 doubles slot, while two freshman, Molly Mavrick and Claire Seagrave, played #2 dubs.

May 3 Huntington North (T) 5:00 pm Cancelled
May 5 NCC Tournament @ TBA 11:00 am Kokomo 5 - Arsenal Tech 0
Kokomo 3 - Muncie Central 2
Lafayette Jeff 5 - Kokomo 0
The ladies made quick work of the Arsenal Tech Titans only dropping four games in a 5-0 win to start the day. Double bagels 6-0, 6-0 belonged to #1 singles Abby Bowen and #1 doubles Molly Fisher and Cloey Baldock.

Bagels and french fries 6-0, 6-1 went to #3 singles Olivia Persons and #2 dubs Molly Mavrick and Claire Seagrave. Madison Wood at #2 singles won 6-2, 6-0. This was Claire and Molly M's first varsity win! Way to go ladies!

In the 2nd round, we faced off against the Muncie Central Bearcats. Our first two points came at #1 and # 2 singles, where Bowen and Wood dominated their opponents 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. That put us in a position to win the match with any other win.

Persons went to a tiebreaker in her first set, but lost 7-6 (5), 6-0. #2 doubles dropped their match 6-1,6-4, so the final point came from # 1 doubles. Fisher and Baldock lost their first set 1-6 before rallying to take the second set 6-3 and force the super
tiebreaker. The scores went back and forth before we pulled it out 10-8. This was a great win for this pair and the team.

May 8 Tipton (H) 5:00 pm (W) 3-2
Abby Bowen was first off the courts with a 6-1,
6-4 win at #1 singles.

The Blue Devils tied it up at 1-1 with a #2 doubles win over Shelby Hopkins and Cloey Baldock 6-4, 6-3.

The night continued as #2 singles Madison Wood and #1 dubs Molly Fisher and Hannah Hopkins both won their first set but dropped their second sets. Madison came back from behind to win the third set 7-5 and take the win on Senior Night! Toughness and experience paid off for her tonight!

Molly and Hannah hung tough but dropped their third set 6-4.

The deciding point came from #3 singles Olivia Persons. Olivia dropped her first set 2-6 before reversing that score in the second set. Again it came down to a tiebreaker for the match. Olivia prevailed 7-3 to win the third set 7-6.

May 9 Madison-Grant (H) 4:30 pm (L) 4-1
Abby Bowen won our lone point at #1 singles 7-5, 6-3. Abby' s ground game was strong. Glad to see her playing well.

Both doubles teams played well. Hannah Hopkins and Shelby Hopkins teamed up at #2 doubles and was the last group playing. They went the distance losing 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (3). In tennis, staying on the court as long as possible is good for your team.

Last night's efforts were outstanding.

May 10 Marion (T) 5:00 pm (L) 5-0
The Lady Kats ran into a buzz saw at Marion Thursday night. The Giants dropped only seven games in their 5-0 victory over the Kats.

Abby Bowen lost 2-6, 2-6 at #1 singles and Hannah Hopkins and Shelby Hopkins lost 1-6, 1-6 at #2 doubles. The other lone game belonged to Olivia Persons.

May 12 Culver Academy Invitational (T) 10:00 am Culver 5 - Kokomo 0
F.W. Bishop Luers 5 - Kokomo 0
It is a fun place to play and Saturday would prove to be no different. Because of the rain, we were moved to the indoor courts. This was the first time for many of our ladies to play inside.

First up was Culver. Abby Bowen played well and challenged her opponent losing 6-3, 6-4. Everyone battled and played well but we lost 5-0.

Next up was Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. We held tough at several positions and again, played good tennis but dropped the match 5-0.
