Indiana Gear Up   Gear Up Cover
Indiana GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is designed to increase the number of K-12 students who are exceptionally prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.
Kokomo High School’s freshmen students in any academy (International Baccalaureate, K-Tech, or STEM) are invited to participate in Indiana GEAR UP at Kokomo High School.  Tutoring is every Thursday after school from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. starting September 13, 2018.  We have teachers available to assist students in every subject area.
The last Thursday of each month (unless it is a holiday), we have a special “Diner Night” after regular tutoring.  Parents and families are invited to join us from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. for a family S.T.E.M. project and a catered dinner.
Transportation home after tutoring is available, but parents must sign up for transportation by Monday of the week they need transportation.  You may email Jenifer Scott at or call 765-455-8040 ext. 19494 for transportation needs.  Please include parent name, parent phone number, and student name in your email or message.
If a student does not need homework help, but wants to participate in an eCybermission project that addresses a problem in the community, they can stay during tutoring time and work with a small group of peers and teachers.  The eCybermission project is sponsored by the Army Corp of Engineers and scholarship money is awarded at the end of the year for best projects.
