track and field facility with boys and girls track team

It was a memorable meet for our Kokomo High School Boys and Girls Varsity Track teams, as they swept the field to claim North Central Conference (NCC) Championship titles. This marks the first time since 1987 that both teams have stood together at the top of the conference. Between record-breaking distances, hurdle sweeps, and a historic team title for the Lady Kats, these Wildkats have officially asserted their dominance in the conference.

Lady Kats Make History: First Title in Nearly 40 Years

The Lady Kats didn't just win; they ended a decades-long wait in spectacular fashion. Earning a total of 105 points, the team secured their first NCC Conference Championship in almost 40 years!

  • Ja’layia Williams (Junior): Soared to a 1st place finish in the Pole Vault, leading the charge for the field events.

  • Giyanna Thornton (Sophomore):

Solidified her status as an elite hurdler by setting a new Kokomo High School record in the 100m Hurdles (14.60s) earlier this month. She continued that dominance at the NCC Championships, sweeping the competition in both the 100m hurdles (14.65s) and 300m hurdles (46.29s).

Wildkat Boys Dominate with 124 Points

The Boys Varsity team left no doubt on the track, racking up a massive 124 points to secure their own NCC title. The victory was fueled by a mix of explosive sprinting and gritty distance running.
