There are a lot of new things to learn about the new phone policy. Change can be hard, but the law can benefit students in many ways. 

Here’s what the state law says:

• Devices should be turned off and put in your locker.

• No phones during class time, passing periods or during lunch.

The prohibits these devices:

• Cells phones

• Ear buds

• Wireless headphones

• Smart glasses

• Smart watches

• Personal tablets/ laptops

• Handheld gaming devices

One of the biggest concerns students have is how to occupy down time when they’ve completed assignments in class. Down time can give you the opportunity to get homework finished for other classes, giving you more free time in the afternoons. Even if you don’t have homework you can still keep your mind busy by reading a book or working on a word search or crossword puzzle.

Not having devices can also be a good chance to build relationships with your classmates. Maybe you can strike up a conversation with someone you haven’t talked to before. You might just find you make new friends.

Not having phones can be a tough adjustment, but it can benefit you and everyone around you in many ways. I’s the perfect opportunity to make new memories and take on new experiences.
