Once the school year kicks off, fall sport athletes strive to make a legacy at KHS. Last Friday, the girls’ golf team placed third at the IHSAA sectional, advancing to today’s regional meet.

Throughout the season, the team has worked to make their season the best that it can be. The team has worked to improve their scores and their game.

As every young athlete starts a sport in high school, they may reflect on when they first started the sport itself. To share a glimpse on this idea, some of the girls’ shared how they have evolved as a player. Here is what a couple of the athletes shared:

“I would say I have evolved as a golfer by shaving off strokes from being in the high 50's to now being in the low 50's almost 40 range,” said freshman Adaleigh Bagwell. “I have also gotten more confident in how I play.”

Junior Bodhi Holsapple has improved mentally as an athlete during the season.

“I've evolved as a golfer by improving my mental game and being able to make myself focus during a match even when it has been difficult,” she said.

Senior Lucy Goad has seen the hard work pay off for her team.

“We have improved immensely our top five went from shooting in the 200s to 300s all the way down to 190 which gives a good preview for the end of the season,” Goad said.

Holsapple agreed with her teammate.

“I feel very proud of how my team has performed this season,” she said. “We have multiple freshmen this year and they all have done their best and put so much effort and time into our team.”

As they prepare to play in today’s IHSAA regional, Holsapple hopes to not only play well, but be supportive of her teammates/

“My main goals for myself for tournament time are to do my absolute best and be a supportive member of the team so that every member will be able to do their best when playing.”
