Senior Gustavo Arriola leads the football team onto the field during Senior Night.

The football season started off rocky, but as the season went on, the team began to improve and work better together. Through hard practices, determination and teamwork, the players learned from their mistakes and continued to push themselves to become better.

The team lost to Muncie Central in the first round of sectional play. Even though the season did not end the way the team had hoped, many of the senior players recognize how much they improved since the beginning of the season.

“I feel like I improved by becoming more focused and athletically better,” said senior Armani Jackson.

The players had different goals for the season. Some wanted to become the best players they could be, while others hoped to have a winning season and reach conference and state. Even when things got difficult, the team continued to encourage each other.

“I try to lift up my teammates and push them to the best of their abilities,” said senior Landon Gibson.

Despite ending the season in the first round of sectionals, there were still many memorable moments. For Jackson, it was beating Anderson 78-0. That was the highest scoring game in Kokomo football history. Senior Stacy Rund was excited to see a teammate score.

“The most memorable moment was seeing Semaj May score a touchdown after my forced fumble,” he said.

Although the season wasn’t everything the team hoped it would be, the players continued to improve and support one another. Their season showed that success is not only about winning games, but also about learning from mistakes, staying determined and finishing stronger than they started.
