Meet Our Administrators

Angela Blessing
Principal

Angela joined the Kokomo High School staff as lead principal in 2016. Prior to coming to Kokomo High School she was the principal at Bon Air Middle School for a year and spent nine years as the principal of Northridge Middle School in North Montgomery. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Anderson University and her masters in school administration from Butler University, proud member of the Butler EPPSP group 22. In her 17th year as a principal, she continues to believe in leading by example and helping students understand the legacy they will leave at Kokomo High School. With a constant focus on #legacymatters, she challenges students and staff to reflect on the legacy they will leave behind for others at KHS.

Jason Spear
Vice Principal, Transitions Academy/STEM

Jason began his administrative career at Kokomo High School in 2018 as the Vice Principal over the STEM Academy. He is also certified as a school safety instructor by the Indiana Department of Education, and is the Director of School Safety for our school. Prior to these positions, he was a special education teacher. Jason had the honor of being a two-time Teacher of the Year for both Kokomo High School and Lawrence Central High School. Jason lives by the motto “Never Waiver” and tries to instill that mindset into our students.

Lori Magnuson
Vice Principal, IB Academy

Lori began her career at Kokomo High School as a counselor back in 1999. She received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana State University and became the coordinator of the IB Middle Years Programme and Personal Project Coordinator for Kokomo Schools. Lori currently oversees the International Baccalaureate Academy here at the high school. She volunteers for IB Americas as a school site visitor, workshop leader and new school consultant. She also works with schools throughout the United States and Canada on the implementation and evaluation of the MYP. Lori has also had the privilege of speaking at the IB American Conference in Orlando Florida on MYP projects, and at the annual Leaders in Education Conference about counselors and administrators working together. One of her greatest accomplishments has been successfully leading KHS and CMIS through verification and evaluation visits with IB for the MYP, DP and CP.

John Pinson
Vice Principal, KTech Academy

John Pinson first came to Kokomo High School in 2011 as Director of Bands. Since 2018, Mr. Pinson has served as an Assistant Principal, Fine Arts Coordinator, and Director of International Exchanges for the Kokomo High School. He has earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree, a Master of Musical Performance degree, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana State University; the last of which he was also a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. In addition to his duties for KSC, Mr. Pinson is a member of the faculty at Indiana University Kokomo, where he directs the bands and teaches music history and music theory. He has served as a guest conductor for several honor bands and festivals across Indiana and Illinois and is a guest clinician and adjudicator for concert and marching bands. Mr. Pinson is also the President of the Central Indiana Track Show Association and serves on the Indiana State School Music Association Board as the Administrative Representative for Zone 3.Mr. Pinson is a believer in aiding students to learn to building bridges to span the gaps and gorges of knowledge and ability so they may discover their own path.

Mike Susong
Vice Principal, Alternative Programs

Michael joined the Kokomo Schools staff in 2009 as a guidance counselor. From there he worked his way up to Assistant Principal in charge of alternative education. Michael directs the Twilight program which operates in the late afternoon allowing students of all ages the opportunity to receive their high school diploma. His main goal for this school year is to help as many kids as he can walk the stage at graduation. A couple of his accomplishments include being the Teacher of the Year for 1999, and being the designated administration for the AP-TIP School of the Year. One of Michael’s other passions is coaching our high school girls softball team. He is a 4-time softball NCC Coach of the Year.

Nick Sale
Athletic Director

Nick became the Kokomo High School Athletic Director in 2018. His role is to organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular and interscholar athletes for the high school in accordance with IHSAA rules. Nick was a former Kokomo student and was the 2007 State Baseball Runner Up. He also coached the State Runner Up Eastern HS Girls Basketball team in 2012-13. In the 2018-19 school year, he received the NCC Above and Beyond award. Nick believes our greatest challenge in high school athletics today is to continue to promote sportsmanship to our athletes and their families, and to instill the importance it has on education based athletics. Character and the way you treat people are far more important than any personal achievements.

Brittany Troyer
Coordinator of College and Career Preparation

Brittany joined the school counseling team at Kokomo High School in 2018. She became the Coordinator of College and Career Preparation in 2022, thus allowing her to expand her love and knowledge for helping students achieve their academic, career, and personal goals. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University, her master’s degree in elementary education/gifted and talented education from Ball State, and a master’s degree in school counseling from IUPUI. Prior to coming to Kokomo High School, she was an elementary teacher with a focus on gifted/talented programs and worked in higher education as an academic advisor, career counselor, and coordinator of accessibility services. Her goal is to continue to provide comprehensive, equitable, and data driven counseling services for all students following the American School Counseling Association’s RAMP model.
